Leader: Jayah Faye PaleyVeterans and their families, please call 650-289-5400 for free registration. Join us for a special docent-led walking tour along the spectacular CA coastline and learn about native peoples, history of the area, geology, geography and the fascinating plant and marine life that abounds in this area. The San Mateo Coast has offshore up-welling of nutrient-rich water, complex geology with offshore rocks, sea level reefs and pocket beaches, and a generally mild and relatively constant marine-dominated climate. These conditions favor abundant and diverse marine life. The inter-tidal and marine resources within the Fitzgerald Marine Reserve are renowned for their richness and diversity. From an easy walking path we will enjoy fresh air, a tree tunnel, and overlooks of the rocky seashore. The tides will be high, but a robust living community of marine life thrives in the rocks below the water's surface. Harbor seals make this area their home, as well as a variety of birds. If you have a pair, bring your binoculars!Space is limited. Sign up early but only if you truly intend to come and keep your RSVP current as you are holding a space for this limited space tour.
