Plaster wall repairs and finishing: Learn by doingBe a part of saving building history and learn how to repair your own plaster walls. Join the restoration team at the Saylor House in Kiwanis Park to learn how to patch and finish lime plaster walls in an 1800’s stone house. The workshop brings participants into the hands-on process of restoring historic lime plaster kitchen walls of the Saylor House. The house will serve as an educational site for lectures and workshops on the banks of Antietam Creek. Restoration experts will cover how to assess the condition of the walls, what techniques can be used to repair and finish the walls with original lime materials and the addition of some modern additives. Participants will be instructed and guided in hands-on repair of the brown coat, the smooth coat and a final lime wash.
