Wood Lake is the layover spot of choice for dozens of migrating bird species and numerous year-round residents as well. As part of a nationwide research project, nature center staff will safely mark these birds with an aluminum band to track their movements over their lifetime. The goal is to re-capture the birds: in 2021 at Wood Lake a red-winged blackbird that had been banded 5 years earlier was re-caught! Join us to see what species we will catch this spring.
