Being a lifeguard can be one of the most rewarding jobs in recreation. Lifeguards provide water safety and security measures, and are first responders in time of need. Trainees will learn adult, child and infant CPR; water safety, water rescues, as well as first aid and emergency response procedures. Trainees will be required to pass a pre-course swimming test during the first class. Upon successful completion of the written and skills tests, trainees will receive a 2-year American Red Cross Certification for Lifeguarding, First aid, CPR and AED. Trainees that successfully apply and receive employment with the City Of Vacaville Aquatics program will receive a 50% reimbursement on fees paid after completing 300 hours of work. *NOTE*: This is a blended-learning class, and will require completion of the online learning component before Day 1 of the certification. Please watch your email inbox in the weeks prior to the course for login information & further details. Swim Test Practice Day: Date TBD, from 10:00 - 11:00am (meeting at the Competition Pool of the Walter Graham Facility, located at 1100 Alamo Dr.). Get an early opportunity to practice the physical tests before the start of the class!  Refund Policy: If a participant is unable to complete the initial Swim Test, then they will be eligible for a transfer to a later certification date or a full refund. However, refunds will NOT be given for participants who complete the course but do not pass the final written or skills exams. Certifications are not guaranteed and will only be given to participants who meet the American Red Cross standards.
