Students will learn to ride a horse independently at the walk and begin to trot, also to post and ride in 2-point position.Basic position, skills, and commands will be emphasized through fun drills and games on horseback. English saddles / bridles are used, but basic skills can be used for any style of riding.Week 1: Safely Mounting and Dismounting, introduce holding the reins, introduce asking horse to move forward, introduce asking horse to stop moving, introduce steering, introduce proper seat and position in the saddle, introduce 2 point at the walk.Week 2: Review of all topics covered in week 1, introduce sitting trot on a straight line.Week 3: Review week 2.Week 4: Review week 3, introduce posting trot on a straight line.Week 5: Review week 4 practice walk, halt, sitting and posting trot on a straight line.Week 6: Review week 5
