About This Camp & Activity

Guitar Rockers have completed Guitar Roots at YMP or already have some experience on the guitar. Guitar Rockers will build on the skills learned in their Roots class while also learning new skills, techniques, and songs.READING:Identify all of the line and space note names on the treble clefUnderstand and demonstrate ability to follow basic song form: (AB, verse, chorus, etc.)Understand and play a simple chord chartRHYTHM:Demonstrate ability to play eighth and dotted half notes and restsCHORDS:Demonstrate smooth transitions between chords? Chords: A, Dm, Fmaj7SCALES/MELODY:Explore simple improvisationPlay multiple song melodiesPlay C Major scale in open positionPLAYING/TECHNIQUE:Play using multiple chordsPlay in different temposDemonstrate multiple strumming patterns (song-based) using both up and down strokesPlay and improvise with Pentatonic scale in open positionDemonstrate ability to use up and down stokes with strum hand on chordsPlay with dynamicsUnderstand how to tune a guitarEAR TRAINING:Determine by listening if a note is above, below, or the same as another note.Students will perform in a concert during Concert Week, December 5-10.
