About Camp

SUNOL - Get outside with a guided hike along Camp Ohlone Road. We'll admire fall colors, look for birds and burn a few calories on a 3-mile, moderate trek through Sunol. Come prepared: Bring all the drinking water you will need. Wear layers, sun protection. Be wilderness ready, there is no cell phone service or running water in the park. Adult supervision required for duration of program. Hike: 3 miles round trip along exposed gravel road path Guided hike portion will end at the Alameda Creek Overlook (formerly Little Yosemite). You're welcome to bring snacks, lunch and stay longer on your own. Directions to the park: From Fremont, drive north on I-680 and exit at Calaveras Road (near the town of Sunol.) Turn right at the exit onto Calaveras Road and proceed about four miles to a left turn onto Geary Road, which leads directly into the park. (If you find yourself driving uphill on a narrow winding road you’ve missed the Geary Road turnoff.)To reach the visitor center take the first left after the park entrance. From the Oakland-Berkeley area, drive east on I-580 to the junction with I-680. Take I-680 south and exit at Calaveras Road/Highway 84 just south of the Sunol exit. At the bottom of the exit, turn left onto Calaveras Road and proceed as noted above. Directions to meeting place: Drive through the park fee booth kiosk and go straight until the road dead ends. We will be meeting at the large, gated Camp Ohlone road to begin our trek. Parking lot and pit toilets available at meeting location.
