About Camp

This presentation will deal with the basic knowledge needed to construct and maintain desert hiking trails. Topics covered will include basic trail terminology, trail tools, trail construction philosophy, and maintenance procedures. The focus of the presentation is to inform potential trail steward volunteers about the general efforts and expectations of the City’s volunteer trail crews. Particular attention will be paid to Cleaning and Clearing operations as well as “Pirate” Trail Mitigation techniques. The presentation is roughly one hour in length. After meeting at the Hole In The Rock ramadas at Papago park, and discussing things for about 30 mins the participants will walk a short way to the HITR trail for more discussion and demonstrations of techniques.
