About Camp
Purpose: To train instructor candidates to teach water safety, including the Basic Water Rescue and Personal Water Safety courses, six levels of Learn to Swim, three levels of Preschool Aquatics and two levels of Parent and Child Aquatics.Prerequisites: Be at least 16 years of age on or before the last day of the instructor course, successfully complete the precourse session and complete the online introduction for an additional $37 thru the ARC Learning Center before the first day of class. Note: Course requires participants to have access to internet for online components. There are nine course rounds of online material to complete that take approximately one hour each outside of the scheduled class time. Recreation Center Membership or day pass required.Certification Requirements: Complete all on-line assignments, attend all class sessions, participate in all activities, successfully complete all practice teaching assignments and pass the final written exam with a minimum grade of 80%.
