Adult Coed Hockey is a friendly, recreational, non-check, non-slap shot league. Participants range from those just learning the game and how to skate to people who have been playing for a lifetime but enjoy a non-aggressive atmosphere. Players unable to control their temper or aggressive style of play are not welcome & may be removed from the league. In instances of dissent to referees or league administrators, players will be removed from play & will have to referee a game prior to returning to play (see league rules for details). To keep teams balanced, all players will be drafted onto teams by captains who must be approved by Parks & Rec Staff. Participants are guaranteed a 10-game regular season & an end of season tournament. Play will primarily take place on Friday & Sunday nights with Saturdays as the alternative when necessary. The Draft will take place the first week of November and the regular season schedule will be published by November 6. League play is scheduled to begin on Sunday, November 13, 2022.Priority Registration for returning 2021/22 league participants will take place from Tuesday, September 20 at 3:00pm to Tuesday, October 4 at 12:00pm. Open Registration for new players will start on Tuesday, October 4 at 3:00 pm. Returning participants may only sign up for the spot they held during the 2021/22 season (full, shared, goalie). Returning shared spot players who would like to change to a full spot need to indicate that preference in the custom questions section of the registration process. Players who were out on medical leave or who substituted in for an injured player during the 2021/22 season must sign up during the Open Registration beginning on October 4.Priority for available 2022/23 full spots will be assigned in the following order: participants on documented 2021/22 medical leave, goalies, 2021/22 shared spot participants, 2021/22 injury replacements, new players. Participants are responsible for signing up during the correct registration window. If you are unsure of which registration window you should be registering for, please contact a member of the Recreation Department (Kurt Friederich, Adam Murray, Adam Mosier, Eric Elsner). Ineligible registrations will be removed from the roster & refunded; ineligible registrations will not be transferred. Players must complete a skill set and availability questionnaire during the registration process.A waitlist will be started after 11 teams’ worth of participants register but we will aim to have 12 teams again this season. The number of teams we can facilitate is dependent upon the number of men, women & goalies that register. The fee doesn’t include personal gear. Helmet, elbow pads, shin pads, gloves, skates & stick are required. All other equipment is highly recommended. Goalies play for free, receive an equipment stipend based on games played & play with all teams throughout the season. A limited amount of communal goalie equipment is available for use.
