(All Ages) Join us at beautiful Farrel-McWhirter Farm Park and dive into the past with the first ever Redmond Recreation’s “Walking with History.” This walk and talk tour features the Farm Park’s land donor and early Redmond resident, Elise Farrel-McWhirter. The tour explores her extraordinary life as a high society debutante in New England where she ultimately shunned the lifestyle, divorced a loveless marriage, and escaped out west with a bunch of friends in her automobile in 1908 into the early days of the 20th century, wild Western Frontier. An independent and fierce woman even before the Women’s suffrage movement began, she loved children and animals, and donated 68 acres upon her death so that it could always bring joy as a park. Come to the land she loved and take a “Walk with Elise.” All are welcome!Information and Reminders- Please dress for the weather just like “Elise” did. We walk rain or shine. Sturdy closed toed shoes are required as we will meet some of the Farm Park’s animal residents and be in the Park’s trail system.- Light refreshments and snacks will be served either in the 1930’s Hay Barn or the Farm’s Garden depending on weather.- Photography is strongly encouraged.
