Practical Nursing 1

About Camp

This is the first year of a 2 year course. Prerequisite: successful completion of Nurse Aide, Direct Care Aide, or Personal Care Aide certification. Designed for anyone seeking employment as a LPN in a hospital or nursing home, this course provides instruction in the classroom, lab and hospital/nursing home. Students will complete a minimum of 1075 hours in class and 467 hours in a clinical setting. After successfully completing this course, students are eligible to take the NCLEX exam,Virginia Board of Nursing examination for certification as a Practical Nurse. This course requires participation in clinicals as well as classroom/lab hours. A criminal background check will be done before attending class (fees included). Immunizations, including COVID will be required (fee not included). This class requires students to be able to bend, pull, stoop and walk without problems. A physical exam will be required (fee not included). Uniforms are required (not included). Books and supplies are included. You may be accepted into the class before completion of your background check. If the completed inquiry establishes information that in the opinion of Chesterfield County Public Schools, the Virginia Board of Nursing or the clinical setting makes you unqualified to attend clinical instruction, you may be dismissed from class.
