Lifeguard Training at Loma Verde Aquatic Center (16 yrs - Adult) Monday - Saturday, July 7th - 12th, 8:30am - 5:30pm This class will teach potential lifeguards the skills and knowledge to prevent and respond to aquatic emergencies, providing the minimum certifications for employment with the City of Chula Vista as a Lifeguard I. Students that pass this class will receive the following American Red Cross certifications: Lifeguard Training and First Aid, CPR for the Professional Rescuer, and Title 22: First Aid for Public Safety Personnel. NO EXCEPTIONS PREREQUISITES:The following skills will be evaluated on the first day of class: 1. Proof of age (Must be 16 by the first day of class).2. Swim 300 yards continuously using crawl stroke and breaststroke.3. Swim 20 yards, retrieve a 10 pound brick from a depth of 12 feet, return to the starting point and exit the pool within 1 minute and 40 seconds.4. Tread water for two minutes (legs only) NO REFUNDS/CREDITS:Registration is not refundable. Fees will not be refunded, transferred or credited. Students may be asked to leave for various reasons, including but not limited to: not passing the prerequisites, tardy attendance, absence, not completing homework, failing practice skills, not demonstrating maturity/responsibility. BRING TO ALL CLASSES: Swim suit, goggles, towels, warm clothing, printed textbooks and materials OR laptop/tablet with textbooks downloaded.
