The staff at Coon Rapids Recreation Division is looking forward to spring and the beginning of another planting season.Garden plots are reserved on a first come first serve basis. Due to the high demand, Coon Rapids residents may only reserve one plot per household. Registration dates are based on priority and are as follows:January 16-February 29: Returning gardeners from 2023 in good standing requesting same plot. March 1st: New Coon Rapids resident gardeners may reserve an available spot.• Plots will be available for planting May 15th (weather dependent). • Weeds and other compostable materials should be placed in the paths to be trampled into the soil.• Water is included in the rental fee. Please keep watering to a maximum of one hour (no unattended watering) and do not water overnight. Gardeners must provide their own hoses, tools, and supplies. Watering allowed on ever other day (Odd/Even) basis, based on plot number.• Fencing is allowed (except for barbed wire) but is not provided by the City. Fencing needs to be green, brown, black, or gray in color. No orange fencing. The garden plots are numbered and marked out with stakes.• No burying of materials (hose, fencing, bottoms, etc.)• Parking on the north shoulder of 121st Ave. is permitted. Please do not park at the Fire Station.• Portable Restrooms are available at the garden site.• Fencing and gardening materials must be cleared out no later than October 30th (or earlier depending on weather). Damages or not cleaning up at the end of the season will result in fines in the amount of clean up.Important dates• February 29th—Deadline for preregistration• March 1st—First day of open registration• May 15th —Gardens open (weather dependent) • May 15th —Existing gardeners may sign up for additional plots • May 31st —Final day to register for a plot. No further rentals after this date. Uncultivated plots will be lost.• October 15th —Last day of the season. Gardens close for the year
