About Camp

The Colorado Association of Recreational Athletics (CARA) Swim Team is designed to be a program with a strong recreational format for the non-ranked, non-sanctioned participant. Swimmers participate in two practices per week. Swim meets dates are TBD.Level of Instruction: Swimmers who are interested in participating in CARA Swim must be able to complete the following:25 Yards of front crawl and back crawlBasic understanding of breast stroke and butterflySkill Assessment: January 28 from 4:30-5 p.m. at the Parker Recreation Center. Practice times will be assigned at swim assessments, all registered participants must attend swim assessments. Only swimmers that are registered will be assessed.Season Dates: February 5 - April 3Practice Times: Swimmers will be assigned to different swim teams based on ability level after swim assessments are complete. Possible practice times include:M/W: 6:15 – 7 p.m. (Parker Recreation Center)M/W: 7 – 8 p.m. (Parker Recreation Center)NOTE: You could be given any one of these practice times. Please ensure your schedule can accommodate all of these possibilities.Skills/Fundamentals Learned: Swimmers will improve their endurance, strength and breathing techniques as they train on the following strokes throughout the season:BreaststrokeBackstrokeFreestyleButterflyStarts and Turns appropriate for each strokeContact Brandon Roth at broth@parkeronline.org for more information.Instructor: Swimmers are coached by staff members from the Parker Parks and Recreation Aquatics staff who are Water Safety Instructors, trained in swimming, diving, coaching, CPR/AED, and First-Aid.
