Join Matt Kalwasinski, Munster resident and Vice President of the Dunes-Calumet Audubon Society, for a guided bird walk at the Highland Heron Rookery. The Highland Heron Rookery is one of Lake County's top birding destinations, offering excellent opportunities to observe a wide variety of birds. Participants can expect to see ducks, wading birds, and—with a little luck—even a Bald Eagle. This walk is beginning friendly, and all walking will be done on a paved path. Participants will meet Matt at 9:00 am at the Highland Heron Rookery parking lot, located at the corner of LaPorte Street and Liable Road in Highland, Indiana (41.559504, -87.441197). The walk will last approximately 1 hour and 30 minutes. In the event of inclement weather, the event will be rescheduled for Saturday, October 3.
